Occasionally, classic Outlook tries to run a process in the background. Auto-archive, sending and receiving a very large attachment, or running some of the other mailbox tools can all be done in the background. Check the status bar at the bottom of the screen to see if another process is running. If so, wait a short time (usually two or three minutes) to see if Outlook starts working again. If you can't choose any of the menu options, type inside an email message, calendar event, or contact, Outlook may have frozen. There are three steps you can take to try to get Outlook working again.

The built-in Fix Outlook Stuck On Loading Profile back-off mechanisms in the indexing component of Windows Search or WDS pauses the indexing of Outlook data when the system is under heavy use. The easiest way to let the indexing finish is to leave Outlook running overnight.Additionally, you can reduce performance issues by running Outlook in Cached Exchange Mode. In this mode, Windows Search or WDS searches the local copy of the mailbox instead of the mailbox content on the server. I even reduced mailboxes sizes and that didn't help, I setup a new user (albeit existing PC but new windows profile), and he is having the same issues. If the mailboxes open automatically after removing them and restarting Outlook, they may be auto mapped. This setting can be changed by an Exchange admin by submitting a request via Jira and including the usernames of the client and the usernames of the mailboxes that need to be removed.

As @ode2joy said, clearing out the user’s profile usually works, which is a more thorough procedure than just deleting .nst and .ost files. I have found that when this happens its due to the Account in windows needing to be updated. If you close outlook(make sure its not in the system tray) then click on start and type Domain, then find Access work or school. You should see the Microsoft account, click on it and disconnect it.

" The problem of slow browser performance affects users of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Microsoft... If you’re not using Outlook advanced features, a lighter email account tool may be an option—but consult with your IT team first. Sometimes a Windows update or app update—meant to fix things—ends up causing the problem. Especially if you’re using a different version of Windows, this can break compatibility with Microsoft Outlook or Outlook configuration files.
